Palma's Alberto Casallo joins forces with Barcelona native Miki Leris to collaborate for this new two track EP of deep, groovy house. Separately the artists have released for labels like Hotbox Digital, Clubland, and Tokyo Red, and now they are making their studio debut together for Malo Records this spring.
On the title track Lazy Mondays, we see the pair using rhodes keyboards and guitar plucks to create a relaxing mood that is sure to make any Monday feel a bit better. The tight drum programming and interesting arrangement lead up to a funk bass riff that really kicks things in gear. The rhythm is backed by a smooth cymbal that keeping the beats driving forward, before reprising to second chord progression that really brings the track to a boiling point.
On the flipside, the 'Funky House' track combines filtered disco cut ups with shuffled snares, setting the stage for the excellent use of the memorable "If house is a nation, I want to be president" sample.
All in all it's an excellent summer release from Malo Records, taking things a bit more deeper and musical than we've heard before, and creating a perfect atmosphere for the beach clubs and terraces where it's sure to be echoing throughout the coming months.
